Remember all those reports and rumors a few week ago that had China Unicom buying millions of iPhones from Apple sans Wi-Fi. Well, it seems that rumors were exaggerated. That said another rumor is circulating today about the deal.

china_unicom_iphone

According to the new rumblings, China Unicom is signing up for a three-year exclusive agreement on the iPhone. Shipments of the device are expected to start in Q4 2009. Details of the handset are unknown and there is no word on the cost of the device in China.

Details that surfaced on the China Unicom website a few months ago pegged the device to operate on the 3G/WCDMA network. The WSJ reports Apple has confirmed the deal, but offered no details.

One of the things that I have always meant to get for my Nikon D80 DSLR was a remote shutter release. It’s impossible to take any shots in the dark without a remote or resorting to using the timer to trigger the shutter.

iphonedslrremote

The Nikon remote sells for about $20 and I can’t find one locally. OnOne Software has a new app that is perfect for the DSLR user who wants a remote called DSLR Camera Remote v1.1. The app promises support for Nikon DSLRs and for the Canon T1i/500D.

Two versions are available; the pro edition sells for $19.99 and lets you trigger autofocus while viewing the live view from the LCD and it supports auto bracketing. The lite edition is only $1.99 and simply activates the shutter, which is all I want. The app is available on the app store now.

Twitter announced its plans to introduce location sharing to users’ tweets, launching a new API enabling developers to add latitude and longitude to any post. According to the microblogging giant, location sharing promises to add new context to each tweet–for example, Twitter users could switch from reading the tweets of accounts they already follow to reading tweets from accountholders in their neighborhood or city, expanding the platform’s relevance as users look to share data on local events ranging from concerts to natural disasters
