Vodafone UK has finally released the BlackBerry Bold 9790. The smartphone is available for free with 24 month contract that starts at £31 per month. Powered by the BlackBerry 7 OS, the BlackBerry Bold 9790 features a 1GHz processor, a 2.44-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 360 x 480 pixels, a QWERTY keyboard, an 8GB of internal storage space, NFC support, a microSD card slot (up to 32GB) and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. Apple CEO Tim Cook isn’t happy at all about the claims that are making rounds claiming the company is deliberately using manufacturing facilitates where labor abuses are common. Cook said, “We care about every worker in the worldwide supply chain.” He additionally said that the accusations were offensive.

The NYT recently issued a report that talked to current and previous execs at Apple and at Chinese factories. The claims allege that Apple and others deliberately work with Foxconn even though workers often complain about conditions.

Cook wrote:

“As a company and as individuals, we are defined by our values. Unfortunately, some humans are questioning Apple’s values today, and I’d like to address that with you directly. We care about every worker in our worldwide supply chain. Any accident is deeply troubling, and any issue with working conditions is cause for concern. Any suggestion that we don’t care is patently false and offensive to us. As you know better than anyone, accusations like these are contrary to our values. It’s not who we are.
For the many hundreds of you who are based at our suppliers’ manufacturing sites around the world, or spend expanded stretches working there away from your families, I know you are as outraged by that as I am. For the citizens who aren’t as close to the supply chain, you have a right to know the facts.
Every year we examine more factories, raising the bar for our partners and going deeper into the supply chain. As we reported earlier that month, we’ve made a great deal of progress and improved conditions for hundreds of thousands of workers. We know of no one in our industry doing as much as we are, in as many places, touching as many people” Tim Cook, CEO Apple

Mobilicity is reportedly preparing to release the all new Samsung Galaxy Nexus on their network. The handset is said to become available on February 6th, however there’s no word on pricing yet. At MacWorld 2012, a couple new battery packs have surfaced for the iPhone. The packs are the Qmadix quick shot and eclipse with one for the desk and the other for on the go.

T-Mobile documents have surfaced that claim unlocked iPhones have poor network performance. The document says that only 2G speeds are possible with the iPhone on its network thanks to the lack of WCDMA 1700/2100 bands.

If you are hoping for a Lytro iPhone using light filed technology to come soon, you are out of luck. You can read why that is a lengthy ways off here.
