Q: And how about the other countries? A: Rumors are that Italy and Belgium will shipping the iPhone 4 unlocked end of July 2010. In Italy you can go to the shops of providers TIM and Vodafone. In Italy is completely normal to buy an factory unlocked iPhone. Please read that Italy 3GS post HERE to get the buy tips and addresses for Italy. For Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand, please read THIS post and open provided local Apple Store pages to check the status.

Q:How about buying locked iPhones and next unlocked them? A: The iPhones bought in Germany (T-mobile), Japan (Softbank), US (AT&T) are as far as I know, SIM Locked. We at IT&T do not recommend you to unlock a SIM locked iPhone by using hacking software. The reason is that it is not useful to keep up with Apple’s iOS fast update releases: you most likely have to unlock it again and again. Plus, factory unlocked iPhones are available everywhere as you can see. whether you look at craiglists, and other buy/sell market sites, you will find factory unlocked iPhone 4s. However, be careful for fake sellers who is trying sell you SIM Locked iPhone 4s or just fake phones! We at IT&T recommend to buy officially factory unlocked iPhones at a Apple retail store as described in that post.

Situation:
After I updated mine to iOS 4.0 I had noticed my iPhone 3G was really sluggish. whether I start my settings app, it took more than 15 seconds to start. Or my mail app took tens of seconds to start. Open an newsletter letter took seconds instead of instantly. Flicking through my apps sometimes freezes a second before it goes on, very annoying. Or start the Safari app to web browse the Net took ages. A restart by, press and hold the ability button, didn’t help. Clearing my Safari cache did help a bit but not really measurable. So what is going on? Where is the speed of iOS 3.0 when I bought my iPhone 3G two years ago? But I am so glad to tell you now, I have fixed it! Let me tell you how.
Solution:
The reply is to do a “hard reset” and do it three times. Yes I know, It sounds foolish to do that three times but just do it and do it now. To do a hard reset, you must press BOTH the potential and Home button a few seconds until a slide appears “slide to capability off”. Now slide to ability off. after about 15 seconds the iPhone completely shuts down. Now wait 1 minute and ability on the iPhone again by press and hold the ability button until an apple logo appears on the screen. Now wait till it is up and running. Enter your 4 digit cipher to unlock the phone. Do you already notice the speed of unlocking the phone operate? Now repeat that two more times: potential off ,wait for 1 minute, capability on, thereupon ability off, wait for 1 minute, potential on.
Okay, when you are finished, tryout whether you notice better response of your iPhone. Does it perform more like the grade new iPhone when you first had unboxed it? Okay, to be honest, that fix helped me. Your situation might be different and that fix might not work for you. Please share your results and findings with us.

May I be free to say that “Stay Tuned” is a tip to watch iTunes, particularly for am iOS version 4.0.1 to popup in iTunes? And let me guess, after the software fix in iOS 4.0.1, everybody in the world was wrong by pointing at the iPhone 4 antenna. duration will tell. I am exited what is happening the coming days [END UPDATE]

Yesterdays there were many tweets regarding the so called “Dead Grip” issue or “Grip of Dead”. One popular one was the following:

“Blocking iPhone 4 antenna kills reception. Blocking mic kills audio, and covering the screen makes it impossible to see Retina Display” tweeted by Daniel Eran Dilger

If you have followed the blogposts and youtube the last 48 hours, you might get the impression the whole world is kind of pointing the finger to the antenna construction of the new iPhone 4. But is it really an issue? and whether the reply is yes, is it a hardware issue?

There are reports of the same Dead Grip symptoms on iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS after updating to iOS4 and the reporters are saying it did not had these problems in previous iPhone OS 3. Why is that so interesting? Well, iOS is software and whether that is true that it is caused by iOS 4.0, next that issue can be fixed in iOS 4.0.1 just considering it is software! The ware is soft so it is fixable you understand?

Appleinsider reports that there were forum discussions pointing the problem caused by the iOS 4.0 software. It might switching frequencies differently than before iOS 4.0. Please check that excellent post for the technical nitty gritty stuff.

“Readers report that Apple’s tech support forums originally confirmed that a iOS 4.0.1 software fix addressing the issue would ship early next week (as early as Monday), before the comments were subsequently taken down along with all the other related discussion about the matter.”

So whether that is all true, the Dead Grip is gone by the next iOS 4.0.1 update and all the buzz and worries are gone too. And, whether it is not true, there are still work arounds. Just wrap a iBumper around your iPhone 4 or “Just NOT holding your iPhone that way”. And whether you want to avoid scratches in the front or back of your new iPhone 4 next why not additionally stick some iPhone 4 Screen Protector like invisible shields to protect it. First iPhones were jail broken the BARs by hackers. Lately Apple “lost” an iPhone 4 prototype in a BAR and now the iPhone 4 has dropping BARs. What is going on here? Lets talk about the latter case. I was right from the beginning and I always have said that the so called dead grip issue is a fixable software issue and that while nearly the whole world was pointing at the new iPhone 4 antenna design. I hope iOS 4.0.1 will fix that optical problem and possibly more under the hood. The letter additionally mentioned about changing the bar sizes in iOS 4.0.1
Situation:
After I updated my to iOS 4.0 I had noticed my iPhone 3G was really sluggish. whether I start my settings app, it took more than 15 seconds to start. Or my mail app took tens of seconds to start. Open an mail note took seconds instead of instantly.
To do a hard reset, you must press BOTH the ability and Home button a few seconds until a slide appears “slide to potential off”. Now slide to ability off. after about 15 seconds the iPhone completely shuts down. Now wait 1 minute and potential on the iPhone again by press and hold the ability button until an apple logo appears on the screen. Now wait till it is up and running. Enter your 4 digit cipher to unlock the phone. Do you already notice the speed of unlocking the phone operate? Now repeat that two more times: potential off ,wait for 1 minute, capability on, soon after potential off, wait for 1 minute, potential on.
Okay, when you are finished, experiment whether you notice better response of your iPhone. Does it perform more like the make new iPhone when you first had unboxed it? Okay, to be honest, that fix helped me. Your situation might be different and that fix might not work for you. Please share your results and findings with us.
However, “Apple doesn’t seems to consider that as an issue” Two replies from Steve in that specific e mail conversation that I found interesting:

May I be free to say that “Stay Tuned” is a tip to watch iTunes, particularly for am iOS version 4.0.1 to popup in iTunes? And let me guess, after the software fix in iOS 4.0.1, everybody in the world was wrong by pointing at the iPhone 4 antenna. duration will tell. I am exited what is happening the coming days [END UPDATE]

Yesterdays there were many tweets regarding the so called “Dead Grip” issue or “Grip of Dead”. One popular one was the following:

“Blocking iPhone 4 antenna kills reception.

Well, iOS is software and whether that is true that it is caused by iOS 4.0, soon after that issue can be fixed in iOS 4.0.1 just considering it is software!
