It was a relatively slow week here on iPhone Buzz, but there’s always a calm before the storm, right? I mean, Apple is having their MacBook event that Tuesday and we’ll be live blogging at 10 a.m. PST by on SlashGear. With that in mind, it’s understandable why iPhone info would be a bit slow.

But that doesn’t mean that blog was quiet that week. In fact, we found out that the iPhone firmware 2.2 has a few additional features no one noticed right away, including Emoji and StreetView support in Google Maps.

We additionally learned that a big group of current iPhone users actually switched from a different carrier in order to use the device. Plus, the iPhone Developer Tech Talks launched that week, bringing iPhone app creation abilities to a wider audience.

The mini-USB plugs were recalled recently, and now customers are getting their replacements. Funnily sufficient, they have arrived for many in huge boxes with just an instruction sheet warning customers to return the defective plugs or else.
