- by iphone-tips-tricks.com – Apple’s relation with BARs. First iPhones were jail broken the BARs by hackers. Lately Apple “lost” an iPhone 4 prototype in a BAR and now the iPhone 4 has dropping BARs. What is going on here? Lets talk about the latter case. I was right from the beginning and I always have said that the so called dead grip issue is a fixable software issue and that while nearly the whole world was pointing at the new iPhone 4 antenna design. [proof1 proof2] Apple has published that letter yesterday regarding the “dramatic drop in bars”. Some software calculation problem causes us to see more bars than the real reception strength but next drops two or more bars, when I “gripping it” tightly, while the real reception strength has dropped less than the worth of 2 bars. I hope iOS 4.0.1 will fix that optical problem and possibly more under the hood. The letter additionally mentioned about changing the bar sizes in iOS 4.0.1
“We are plus making bars 1, 2 and 3 a bit taller so they will be easier to see.”
So I thought about how that precisely should look like. The aftermath is shown in that picture. We wait for iOS 4.0.1 or (whatever the update will be called) and see whether I was close or not.
