Scientists at Northwestern University and University of Illinois have invented an electronic eye that looks — and works — LIKE A HUMAN EYE. The camera features “stretchable optoelectronics and biologically inspired design.” Funded by the National Science Foundation and the U.S. division of Energy, the project could lead simply to better cameras, or even to bionic eye implants that could bring sight to the blind.
